The tour will lead you into the heartland of Tibetan civilization, Lhasa and its surroundings in a short period of time. You will begin and end your trip in Kathmandu which in itself has many heritage sites and places of attraction. Due to the past historical and cultural relations between Nepal and Tibet, the journey to both countries complements one another.
In Lhasa, we will visit, Potala Palace, one of the grandest world monuments, one that has captured the imaginations of travelers and has been an object of faith for locals for centuries. Built in the 6th century by Tibetan emperor Srongtsen Gampo, it was expanded in later centuries and served as the seat of the Dalai Lamas until the present 14th Dalai Lama before his exile into India. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it now serves as the repository of Tibetan civilization since the 6th century onwards. We will then visit the major monastic universities of Drebung and Sera and Tibet’s oldest temple Jokhang and first monastic university Samye (8th century). A visit to Tsetang valley where Tibet’s first King was recognized and a visit of his palace Yumbu Lakhang is a special experience.
The tour will begin at Kathmandu and conclude too. Here we will also visit the Kathmandu valley and its World Heritage Sites, Boudhanath and Swoyambhunath, Buddhist monuments related to the earliest civilization of the valley and Pashupatinath one of the holiest Hindu temple also venerated since the formation fo the valley civilization (circa 3rd century BCE).
